The Current Station at Bath was built for the Maine Central RR in 1941 primarily of brick as protection against fire. The weather vane on the top of the dome was a gift from William S. Newell, the president of B.I.W. The station would serve passengers until 1959 and freight until 1971 when it was sold to a dental clinic for the poor. The clinic moved to a new home in 2000, and in 2007 the city bought and restored the station for the Maine Eastern Railroad.
The Carlton Bridge just down the line from the station was originaly constructed for both rail and automobile traffic in 1927. It meant the end of the rail and car ferries crossing the river.
